The Library disaster

Today I had one of those mommy disaster moments, you know the kind when you wonder what you were thinking when you had some "great" idea. Well my great idea was the library and it didn't turn out as blissful and wonderful as I had imagined! It was raining this morning and I really wanted to get Houston out of the house so I thought we would try out the library for the first time. He loves to read and he is usually pretty well behaved in public so I packed up Sis and Houston and headed to check out some books. When we arrived all was well, the children's section is in the basement and there was only one other child there so we didn't have to be necessarly "quite". Houston picked out a few books and we sat and read them, McKennon loves when I read so she was all giggles at this point. After reading a few books we did some puzzles and while playing with the puppet theatre I heard the biggest rumble come from McKennon's pants... I mean catastrophic, library shaking rumble from her bottom. When this happens you know things are not going to be good. We quickly made our way to the bathroom where I realized that poop was now traveling up McKennon's back, down her legs and around to her stomach. This was one of those moments when you ask "why me?" As I tactfully began attacking the mess at hand I turned to see what Houston was doing and found him pumping hand soap out of the bottle and down his arms... I mean Seriously. Okay so now McKennon is naked, poop is slowly disappearing and I realize I don't have near enough wipes! Uggghhhh.... paper towels it is... poor sis, poor me! Oh and did I mention during this time Houston ran out of the bathroom twice, I could of cried... The corner next to the changing table made a great place for time out while I finished cleaning up the monsoon of poop! Finally we were all clean, I was able to regain my composure and we packed up our things and left the library. Not really my dream outing with the kiddos and if it wouldn't of been for the dirty diaper I think we might have really enjoyed the library!

Pooky

Today we lost our dear sweet Pooky. At 89 years old Brooks' grandfather has passed and is now watching over us in Heaven. A heroic and stoic man I was blessed to know Pooky for the last six years of my life. A man of few words Pooky always had the sweetest smile and content look upon his face, he never complained and was always happy to just hang around, his little chuckle was contagious. Brooks has many fond memories of his "Pooky" growing up watching his grandfather in the beer business, summer trips to the beach, Pooky and his brother's amazing relationship throughout the years, betting on sporting events and of course Coors Light.
I can't explain how much it means to me that Houston and McKennon were able to meet Pooky. I love to take the kids to visit he and Ginna and after 63 years of marriage I know that their great-grandchildren brightened their days. When Houston was barely a year old he and Pooky would play the waving game where Pooky would say "hi" and wave and Houston would wave back... they would do this over and over and before Houston could even talk he would wave to Pooky just because that was what they did.... Memories like that are priceless. I know that Pooky is watching over us all and that one day we will meet again... God Bless You Pooky You are So Loved.

Brrrr

Baby it is COLD outside! Today's high was in the twenties and for Tennessee that is Freezing! Since it has been so cold, cabin fever had begun to set in and I'm not sure who was going to go crazy first Houston or myself! With that being said we bundled up for a stroll around the neighborhood and some playtime in the yard. See how cute my little Eskimos were!

Her chubby cheeks never get old!
